Level 2 - Learn to Roller Skate - 6 Week Course - Hackney
Skill Level 2: Over 18s who can skate forwards, backwards and stop and want to build on their basic skills.
Got your own skates? Got the basics down and not sure what to do next? Completed our Level 1 course and looking to keep improving?
Join us for a jam-packed 6 consecutive weeks of one hour sessions to improve your roller skating and build your confidence. You'll learn a mixture of skills that can include cross overs, how to transition from forwards to backwards, how to spin, jump and pivot on your skates. Mixed in with some fun artistic and jam skating moves and tricks. All in a safe and inclusive indoor space with a fun soundtrack and laughs - we’re not called Roll Happy for nothing ;)
What are level 2 skills?
- Tackle corners using forwards and backwards crossovers.
- How to transition from forwards to backwards (and back again).
- How to pivot on your roller skates.
- How to spin.
- How to jump on your skates safely.
- Fun moves you can use at the roller disco.
You must bring your own quad roller skates, protective wrist guards and knee pads. We are unable to teach you without these for your safety.
Requirements to protect our floors:
- Wheels must not be harder than 99A
- Jam plugs or toe stops are required
If you haven't replaced or removed any parts of your skates they will meet the above requirements.
Helmets and elbow pads are encouraged but not mandatory.
Wear something you're comfortable to move freely in, glitter and disco vibes are always welcome.
Bring a refiallable water bottle, all our venues have water refill stations.

There is free car and cycle parking available at the venue.
The metal carpark gate is behind the school on Labernum Street (to the left of reception if you’re approaching the school from Kingsland Rd). Press the intercom button at the metal carpark gate and you'll be buzzed in. Once you’ve parked up exit back through the gate and walk around to the main reception.

When you arrive at the Bridge Academy head to the main reception on the corner of Labernum St and Haggerston Rd. Reception will sign you in and point you in the right direction.

We cannot offer catch up classes if you miss a session, but we will always do our best to recap on any content that you may have missed.
Unfortunately you can’t join a class if you are, or suspect you are pregnant or postnatal due to the risk of falling.
We may take photographs and videos at our classes. If you would prefer not to be filmed or don’t want us to use your image for promotional purposes just let us know.
